There are far too many E30 / E36 options to list them all. This page lists a few as options for road cars to give indicative pricing only. The 4-clutch 45/45 2-way LSD is the best choice for most applications (except drift, WTAC, rally and gymkhana) so this is the only option listed here. For specialised vehicles it is best to call to discuss. For all dedicated race vehicles intended for competitive use, it's best to call.

The prices listed are for a complete strip, rebuild and factory blueprinting service. All hardware is replaced. The differential is cleaned and re-painted. All components used are of the highest quality (genuine or OEM only).

 

E30 / E32 / E34 / E36 Complete LSD Exchange Diff

Options on this page are for E28, E30, E32, E34 and E36 6-cylinder vehicles including 323i, 325i, 328i, 525i, 530i, 535i, 730i, 735i, E30 M3, E28 M5, E34 M5 and E36 M3 3.0L.

Your early model (pre 1998) BMW responds very well to an LSD upgrade and a ring and pinion upgrade. Diff Lab's limited slip differentials are the very best available. Choose only the very best for your BMW.

When you order a Diff Lab differential, it will be assembled within 1-3 business days and delivered to your door, or to a Diff Lab partner workshop. Configure your differential using the options. You can choose your desired gear ratio, LSD configuration and upgrades.

If you are not sending a diff into be built, and you need an exchange differential, a fully refundable core deposit of $350 is needed.

Options

LSD Options: You can configure your ultimate LSD with an original BMW LSD in a 4-clutch, 1.5-way or 2-way configuration. Custom lockup is available is both 1.5-way and 2-way units. Ring and Pinion: All ratios are available including new Motorsport gears. Gears in the range of 2.93 to 3.07 and above 4.88 are only compatible with the original BMW LSD. All of the common ratios e.g. 3.46, 3.91, 4.10, 4.45 etc are all compatible with any LSD. See our guide on Selecting the Right Ratio

LSD Bolt Upgrade: Bolt ugprades are available for original BMW LSDs. This is highly recommended.

Diff Bolt Upgrade: The case bolts are often corroded, rusted and stretched. Replacing these is highly recommended.

Speedo Delete: The speedo sensor is a failure point, and should be removed for race vehicles. Add this upgrade to replace with speedo sensor with a machined T6 aluminium plug and a new o-ring.

Race Blueprinting: Diff Lab's special differential specifications for dedicated race differentials. This involves setting up the differential to handle higher temperatures and to have lower resistance. Race blueprinting is not for road vehicles.

Postage: Free delivery of your new diff to RX Automotive Brisbane and Brisbane Motor Works. An additional money request will be sent via Paypal if the checkout under-prices the freight significantly for your address, as it will do for all regional areas. Exchange Freight Option: Select this if you would like Diff Lab to organise the freight to return your old differential on your behalf. You will be Emailed a courier label to stick onto the parcel and told which day to leave it out for courier collection. Select 'not applicable' if you are going to organise your own fright to return your old differential.

Diff Lab often rebuilds already rebuilt LSDs. See our page dedicated to Differential Fails. There is only one way to rebuild an LSD and that is the correct way. Too often Diff Lab opens rebuilt LSDs to find internals installed backwards, upside-down, worn beyond manufacturer limits, and non-OEM parts used. I often find strange looking shims in places where they don't belong. I find a lot of metal shavings, deformed parts, bolts without thread locker, incorrect or undersize bolts installed, strange modified LSDs which self-destruct and assembly specs way outside of the manufacturer's guidelines. These unlucky customers have to pay for two rebuilds: the dodgy work, and then Diff Lab's rebuild. Don't get caught out. Diff Lab diffs are built to work and last. They will not need to be opened for many years of road driving. Just change the oil with good quality a quality synthetic product as needed. You wouldn't hire a clown to fix a leak in the john, so don't hire one to work on your differential either. Choose Diff Lab instead.
